Our team recently completed a fire compartmentation project in a large sheltered housing complex comprising two floors with a substantial roof space reaching heights of up to 5 metres. Due to the limited access to the roof space, careful planning and execution were essential to ensure compliance with the fire wall strategy established for the floors below.
The project required the installation of 20 individual Rockwool fire barriers within the roof space. Each barrier was equipped with a fire-rated access door, enabling facility management teams to maintain the area safely.
Recognising the sensitive nature of the sheltered housing environment, we coordinated closely with stakeholders to align our working hours with the daily routines of the residents. Minimising disruption was a priority, and our installation team operated with the utmost diligence, adhering to strict health and safety protocols to safeguard both the residents and operatives throughout the project.
Despite nationwide supply challenges for the 60mm Rockwool Barrier at the time, our procurement team successfully secured over 300 units of the specialist fire barrier system. This ensured the project remained on schedule and aligned with the construction programme’s parameters.
The successful delivery of this project highlights our expertise in providing tailored fire protection solutions in sensitive environments, showcasing our ability to overcome logistical challenges while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
